Former Vikings offensive tackle Phil Loadholt is joining Deion Sanders' staff as the new offensive line coach for the Colorado Buffaloes — and he's already making noise in the recruiting world.
This is a big hire for Coach Prime, whose team is coming off a 4-8 season where one of their biggest weaknesses was the offensive line. Shortly after news broke about Loadholt's hire, it was reported that Jordan Seaton, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2024 recruiting class, has committed to Colorado. He'll be working closely with Loadholt as he looks to help the Buffs turn things around next season.
Loadholt played college football at Garden City Community College and the University of Oklahoma, then was drafted in the second round by the Vikings in 2009. He was an immediate starter at right tackle for Minnesota's 13-3 team that reached the NFC Championship Game and lost to the Saints in heartbreaking fashion. Loadholt spent six years with the Vikings, starting 92 games (including playoffs) at RT.
Heading into his seventh season in 2015, Loadholt tore his Achilles in the preseason opener and missed the entire year. He announced his retirement the following summer at age 30.
Recently, Loadholt has been an analyst at Ole Miss and Oklahoma. This is the first coaching role of his career.
