SpaceX’s Starship rocket exploded in midair a few minutes into its launch. On Thursday morning, the rocket was launched from the company’s facilities in south Texas.

Kate Tice, a quality systems engineer at SpaceX, said, “What an exciting morning here at Starbase.” Only a successful liftoff and tower clearance gave us any hope for today, which we achieved.

The Thursday launch was SpaceX’s second attempt at the Starship’s initial thorough test flight. Since Starship may one day return astronauts to the moon or Mars, the trip represents an important development step for the spacecraft.

Highlighted the possibility that the rocket won’t reach orbit. Therefore, when the flight ended in a midair explosion, engineers were not astonished.

Images taken as the rocket rose from the launch pad to a height of up to 39 kilometres showed that three of the 33 main engines were not working.

Due to pressurization issues on the rocket’s first stage caused by a valve malfunction, the initial launch attempt on Monday was cancelled. Engineers made the tactical decision to execute the final launch attempt as a wet dress rehearsal, which is essentially a practice launch sans the actual launch.

The team is still unsure about what caused the vehicle to explode mid-test on Thursday. Insprucker and the crew contend that the trip was successful and that it had taught them important lessons that will aid in the construction of a superior Starship.
